May you live all the days of your life!

As I come to the end of my first week blogging I will share with you another card made from the Unity KOTM club. Pink is probably the main colour I gravitate towards when making cards.....sometimes I actually have to force myself not to use it! I do like to try pink with other colours and so here I've used burgundy. I'm NOT a photographer so sometimes the colours on the screen are not a true representation of the actual card....but I'm working on that!

Have a great week everyone!

Stamp - Unity KOTM March 2009
Georgia Pacific white cardstock
Brilliance Graphite Black ink
Copics - R81, R83, R85, R89

Snail Mail

I love sending and receiving things through the mail...do you? It seems more personal than an email....maybe I'm just old fashioned! This cute little stamp is from Unity Stamp Co who I signed up with about a year ago to receive their Kit of The Month (KOTM). I love the variety of stamps I get which I can use on cards or in my scrapbooking. The problem is I get a new sheet of stamps each month, stamp all the images in my stamp catalogue and file them away and very rarely use them. So, my goal this year is to make at least one card each month from the kit and go back and make at least one card from past kits. This is my first card made from KOTM February 2009.

Thinking of You

If you hang around here long enough you will learn pretty quickly that I like to try lots of new products and techniques. Some stay with me forever, some linger a while and others are fleeting but I always have fun giving it a go. Today, I'm going to share with you an old love and that is a stamp from my Penny Black collection. Many, many years ago whilst living in Australia I sold stamps and was lucky enough to build a nice stash of Penny Black stamps and they are still to this day one of my favourites to colour in. I love the mice and the hedgehogs which I mainly colour with my watercolours but today's card features a lovely stamp called Angel News which I coloured with my Copics.

I Love Stampscapes

Last year I took a class at a local stamp shop that was all about airbrushing with Copic markers. I love my Copics so I thought this would be a great way to get more use out of them. Little did I know that I would come away from the class with a new love for Stampscapes. We used stamps from Stampscapes during the class and then airbrushed the backgrounds with Copics. Since that class I have had lots of fun stamping scenes and airbrushing. Today I thought I would share a few cards that feature one of my favourite stamps....Lakeside Cove.....combined with a few other stamps it really makes a lovely scene with endless possibilities.

Tote-ally Tess and Bitty Birthday

I received my Stampin' Up order last week that I placed at this month's SU card club I attend. As I was cataloging my stamps I realized that the set Bitty Birthday would work perfectly with Tote-ally Tess and couldn't wait to try it out. I also used the little Happy Birthday stamp from Vintage Labels on the gift bag. I love Tote-ally Tess with all her craft supplies but now I can use her for birthday cards too....yay!

A little about me....

I honestly thought I would never have my own blog and here I am typing my very first entry. What a great place to share all my creations. I have been stamping for over 25 years and it all started when a friend of my mothers gave me an old box of rubber stamps that she used for teaching Sunday School. I loved that box of stamps and have been stamping ever since. I remember stamping and embossing all my wedding invitations with my Mum....17 years ago. I grew up in Australia and at the time we had not heard of an embossing gun so we embossed all the invitations over the element on the stove....and burnt a few in the process!

After graduating University with a Teaching Degree I moved to the Australian Outback to teach which is where I met my American husband and had both my lovely children. We lived there for 13 years and then moved to the US at the beginning of 2005. It’s been a huge adjustment for me but being able to create in my craft room has kept me sane. I have friends and family scattered all over the world and I love sending them my handmade cards.....it’s like sending them a little piece of me. I recently discovered Operation Write Home that collects handmade cards to send to the troops overseas so they can send cards to their loved ones. I love being able to donate my cards to this wonderful cause because I know how much it means to send them.

For my first post I thought I would share a card I made for Australia Day this year which is celebrated every year in Australia on the 26th of January. Happy Australia Day to all my Aussie family and friends!
