Happy Thanksgiving

I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. If you would like to leave a comment...for which I am always thankful...you might like to mention something or someone you are thankful for today. I am thankful for my family, my husband and kids and my Mum who lives in Australia.

My fondest Thanksgiving memory is our first Thanksgiving in the US 5 years ago. A few days before I had flown to LA to pick up my Mum and we flew back to NH arriving at about 2am Thanksgiving morning. We were woken at 7am by my two children who were 7 and 9 at the time who were so excited not only to see Grandma but to see it snowing...it was the first snow they had ever seen and the day was a spectacular winter wonderland.

Happy Thanksgiving

Jenn, over at Jax Bean Stalks is hosting the final challenge of the year for the blog group Tangled Up In Creativity. The challenge is to:-

1. Have a turkey somewhere on the card.
2. Have either sewing or faux sewing somewhere on the card.
3. Have ribbon somewhere on the card.

I love sewing and ribbon so that was easy...the turkey was a different story. I don't own a turkey stamp and although I've seen lots of turkeys made with paper punches I never have the same punches to make them. So, you should have seen me make this card...my craft table was covered with all my paper punches trying to figure out which ones would make a turkey...in the end I used eight different punches to make this turkey! When I asked my family what it was they all guessed "a turkey"...perhaps the Happy Thanksgiving gave it away!

Angels Gather Here

The Play Date Cafe challenge this week is to use the colours red, pale blue, pink, bright blue and burgundy! As we say in Australia....Crikey! What a challenge!

I used an angel stamp from Stamps Happen and coloured her skin and cheeks with pink, and shaded her dress and wings with burgundy. The background is pale blue sky designer paper and I coloured the plaid in bright blue and the hearts in red and finished the card with a burgundy ribbon. I stamped the angel twice...once onto the sky paper and then once on white cardstock. I then coloured the white one with SU markers and an aquapainter and cut out the border and angel and paper pieced them onto the sky!

You Stole My Heart

Today is the OWH Stars and Stamps Veteran's Day Blog Hop. It seems a little strange to be posting a Valentine's Day card in November but it's never too early for Operation Write Home. The deadline for Christmas cards to be sent overseas has passed but there is still plenty of time to make Valentine's Day cards before the January 7th 2011 deadline!

My card was made with stamps from the {Ippity} set Straight From the Heart.

I will choose one random comment from this post to win this {Ippity} set and the {Ippity} Spring 2010 Paper Pack. I will announce the winner on Tuesday 16th November 2010.

Don't forget to vote daily for Operation Write Home at Joanns

Christmas Wishes

This week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge is to create a card/project that has some kind of weather displayed on it such as: rain, snow, ice, sunshine, wind...anything that demonstrates weather. The image I used on my card today is a digital stamp from Digi Doodle Shop that has been sitting on my craft table for weeks just waiting to be used. I love snow globes and how they sparkle after you shake them...I lightly brushed stickles on my globe to make it sparkle!

Friends

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week is to make either an all white or an all cream card...a monochrome in pure tones as the bible verse for the week is...Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

I had a tough time trying to photograph this all white card but hopefully you get the idea. I accented the embossed FRIENDS with itty bitty rhinestones to match the rhinestone in the button and the corners.

With Sympathy

I decided to make a sympathy card using last week's Play Date Cafe challenge which was to use black and white with a splash of burgundy!

The little tiny scalloped edge of the burgundy cardstock was made by using my Fiskar paper edgers. I started scrapbooking 15 years ago and over the years purchased about 14 different fancy scissors by Fiskars as they were very popular back then. They have since been replaced by die cutting machines, nestabilities and guillotines with fancy blades and for many years I didn't use them. Recently, I found them in the back of my cupboard and decided to pull them out and use them...I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed using them. They are quick and easy, they have some really nice unique shapes and they can be used with all the new technology like the nestabilities die I used on this card.

Stamps - Regal Greetings by Ippity
Colorbok DP
Brilliance ink
PTI white cardstock
SU marker
Fiskar paper edgers
Ribbon
SU coloured cardstock
