Paper Tole Challenge

This week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge is to create a card using Paper Tole...a technique where you re-stamp your image 2 or more times and cut out parts of that image to pop it up and make it 3-dimensional. I actually use this technique alot but only with one extra layer. For this card I did three layers to give the card a more 3-dimensional look...the second photo hopefully gives you a better view of the layers.

I have a couple of cards using {Ippity} stamps to share with you today. I made the first card for this week's Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #10. I stamped the Love stamp from the set Because of You twice and cut the little tags out of the stamped image from three different places so they all look different. I used butterflies from the {Ippity} set Devoted on this next card. I stamped them on the base and then on patterned paper. I cut the patterned butterflies out and used foam dots to adhere them to the card.

Challenge Cards

I have two challenge cards to share with you today...I have only just started doing challenges in the last few weeks and I must say how fun they are! The first challenge card was a challenge issued to me by my Mum in Australia. The challenge was to make an Easter card for her dear friend Sister Antoinette, depicting Easter morning with the bible verse from John 11:25 and to include a white silk ribbon (her favourite). I airbrushed the scene with my Copic markers.

The second card was made using a card sketch from Mojo Monday...I think it was from a couple of weeks ago...I had seen the sketch whilst blog hopping and it intrigued me and this is what I came up with!

Angel Comfort

Another lovely stamp from Penny Black today called Angel Comfort. I've owned this stamp for over ten years and I never get tired of using it. For this card I watercoloured the stamped image which is embossed with clear. I'm really enjoying using paper flowers on my cards and love to layer them on top of each other. I even used a little flower brad to finish them off on this card.

I always seem to run out of birthday cards so today's card was made to rebuild my stash! I used scraps of cardstock and patterned paper to make the background and sewed them together on my sewing machine....a great way to use all those scraps!

Music of My Heart

Another challenge card today...I made today's card for this weeks {Ippity} challenge. The challenge was to make a card using chipboard on it. I've never used chipboard on a card before. I tend to use it on journal covers and bigger items as I think it can get a bit heavy for a card which can get expensive if you're sending them through the mail...especially to Australia! I covered a chipboard heart with patterned paper and gently sanded the edges before inking the edges with Color Box Fluid Chalk. I stamped the sheet music stamp onto silver paper that has a slight sparkle to it which matches the silver pattern on the chipboard heart. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Trust in the Lord

I made today's first card for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #31. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple card (CAS). I have used one of the lovely verse stamps from the {Ippity} set Devoted. Instead of tying my usual bow I made the two loops of a bow and secured them with a matching brad.

This next card is also a CAS card using a stamp from {Ippity}'s Where You Should Be set. I threaded the thin ribbon through the holes in the button before tying it in a bow. I used my Stampin' Up markers to colour directly on the stamp to get the different colours on the image. Hope you have a lovely day today!

Stampscapes Lakeside Cove

I really enjoy my Stampscapes stamps and Lakeside Cove is one of my favourites ...

I'm going to share four cards with you today that I've made recently using this stamp. All four cards use other Stampscape stamps too to make each scene slightly different....which is part of the beauty of these stamps. I have so much fun making different scenes and airbrushing them with my Copic markers.

Go With The Flow

I'm really enjoying using the {Ippity} set Fishy Philosophy. There are two fish in this set both swimming in different directions. For this card I wanted them to be swimming the same direction to go with the sentiment "Go with the flow". I have one fish swimming off the card so you can't tell that it's upside down!

I love these fish and "Go with the Flow" so I decided to make some magnets as I thought they would be so cute on the fridge....and make great gifts. I used acrylic magnetic photo frames. The first two magnets measure 3.5" x 5" and the backgrounds have been airbrushed with Copic markers and the plants have been accented with Stickles....a glittery glue! They look very bright and cheery on the fridge!

This last little magnet measures only 2.25" x 3.25" with little rhinestones for bubbles! I thought the "just keep swimming" would be a cute reminder on the fridge for when the munchies hit....might need to put one on the pantry too!

Let's Hang Out!

I have a couple of cards today that both use Unity stamps. Let's Hang Out is made with two stamps from Unity's Kit of the Month - June 2009. I pleated the ribbon with glue dots and finished with a button.

For this next card I coloured directly on the stamps with my Copic markers and right before stamping I sprayed it lightly with rubbing alcohol which gives the stamped image a watercolour look.

When I saw this sentiment stamp in Unity's Kit of the Month last June I knew it would be perfect with my 'Cherry Jubilee' stamp from Penny Black. It's only taken me nine months to finally get around to putting them together on a card! :) Better late then never!

More Green!

I told you there would be more green this week! After working on the {Ippity} challenge card earlier in the week my craft table was a creative mess of green! So, before cleaning it up (which I try to do before starting a new project) I decided to play with green some more. The stamps for these projects come from the set Where You Should Be. I paper pieced the leaves for the first card by stamping the leaves onto white and then onto coloured papers. I then cut out the leaves and glued them on the white base. I used Color Box chalks to ink around the edge of the white cardstock and I also inked around the insert of the card to match.

For the second project I decided to make a magnet using the great verse from the card. I used an acrylic magnetic photo frame. It's not a great photo thanks to a very overcast day but the cardstock behind the verse and at the back is a dark shade of green.

You Simply Shine

I love the set "Shine On!" by Unity. The little lamps are just too cute and the sentiments are great too. I made this first card for a card swap last year and the next two cards just the other day. The lamps have been stamped onto white cardstock and then the lampshade was stamped again onto patterned paper. I cut out the patterned lampshade and used a foam dot to adhere it to the white lamp. It gives the lamp a little 3D look. Look how much I love the colour Rose Red from Stampin' Up!

I made these last two cards to experiment with airbrushing a light coming from the lamp. I cut a wedge shape from paper and masked the area I was airbrushing so it looks like the light is coming from the lamp. I thought it would go nicely with "You make my life bright" and "You light up my life".

Isn't this Penny Black hedgehog and bee stamp cute? I found these big yellow brads in my stash and thought I would never use them as I don't use a lot of yellow and they really are bigger than I like to work with but don't they make great daisies? Now I wish I had more to make lots of daisies! I used my ribbon slot punch to punch the holes for the ribbon and then adhered the ribbon to the front of the card with glue dots. I normally adhere the ribbon around cardstock or paper so I can hide the ends but I like this way too.

Ippity Card and Storage

I have a few things to share with you today.....my first card was made using {Ippity} stamps from the sets "Music of my Heart" and "Devoted". I cut a window in the front of the card to match the shape of the heart stamp which is stamped inside so it would be visible from the outside. I then decorated around the heart shape on the front with paper flowers and buttons. I chose the buttons and flowers first which made it easier to match the cardstock and ink.

Secondly, this next card was made with three different stamps from the set Devoted.

...And the last thing for today I thought I would show you how I store my {Ippity} stamps. I use these great 3-ring binders from Univenture and binder sheets from GinaK Designs. Each binder holds four sets of {Ippity} stamps perfectly....one set per page. I made the front insert by cutting out the image label from the packaging so it shows exactly what's in each box. The second photo shows the set Devoted on a binder sheet. The smaller {Ippity} sets have a little more space on the page.

Warm Wishes

Warm Wishes is another one of my original stamp designs. To make the scalloped corners I used a scallop border punch and I coloured a couple of the flowers with Color Box Fluid Chalks to match the patterned paper. I always keep white paper flowers handy because they are so easy to colour to match the card your making.....saves buying tons of different colours. You can colour them, paint them, sponge them, airbrush them...with chalks, watercolours, pencils, markers, and stamp pads etc and they always look great!

I thought I'd share my challenge card for this weeks {Ippity} challenge. This weeks challenge was to create a card using dry embossing and {Ippity} stamps. You can find more details HERE. I've been eager to ink up this cute bunny from the set Sweet Thoughts of Spring and I embossed the background using a Cuttlebug flower embossing die.

Whenever I cut out a shape that I've stamped in black I always gently run the edge of a black marker tip around the outline of the stamp. This gives the cut out a nice clean finish especially when using a light cardstock.

Stampin' Up Card Club

I attend a Stampin' Up card club once a month and we met last night for March. Each month we make a card using Stampin' Up supplies based on a theme to swap with the other ladies. This month's theme was Easter/Spring and I thought I would share my swap card with you today. I chose to make an Easter card using the retired Stampin' Up set Never Ending Joy. The flower bouquet is three separate stamps....the blooms, the stems and the bow. I stamped the blooms three times but only inked the stamp the first time to give the bouquet a fuller look. The ribbon is actually two ribbons....a narrow one on top of the wider one. Rose Red is one of my favourite SU colours and I used it here with Old Olive and white.

Let's Patch Things Up

When I saw this sentiment in Unity's Kit of the Month Club last July I knew it would be perfect with my Penny Black stamp Snips-n-Scraps. I used watercolour paints to colour the stamp and I made a patchwork of scrap papers for the background using a 1 1/4" square punch and found some co-ordinating buttons. I love piecing together backgrounds using scrap paper....it's a great way to use up all those scraps.

Easter - Matthew 28:6

I love the set "Blessings From Him" from Unity Stamp Co. but I've never really liked this stamp...I think it is just a bit 'chunky' for my style. Anyway, it's been sitting in my collection and I wanted to use it as I really like the verse and thought it might like to be airbrushed.....and it did! I think it softens the heavy black lines and makes a striking Easter card! I tried a couple of colour variations and layouts and I think I'm starting to like this stamp after all. Do you have a stamp in your collection that you don't really like and don't use? Why don't you dust it off and give it a second chance....you might be surprised with the outcome!
