Jesus Loves Us!

With Easter just around the corner it's time to get busy making Easter cards. These two cards were made using Unity's Blessings From Him set, with the same colour palette with a slightly different layout. I coloured directly on the stamps with SU markers so that the crown of thorns would be a different colour and the "HE" would stand out as well.

I often make several cards at once using the same supplies but get sick of making the exact same card so I change up the layout so that they are all slightly different. This comes in handy if I'm designing a card that I have to make several of because at the end of the day I can look at the different cards and pick the one I like the best to reproduce. Don't forget today that Jesus loves you...isn't that great!

Birthday Wishes

Another birthday card today featuring Unity's Love in the Air set. I have very fond memories of hot air ballooning over the Australian Outback many years ago with my mother on my 23rd birthday and this stamp always reminds me of that time. It was a magnificent experience....so peaceful and the scenery was amazing. I kept the layout a little plain so the card could be used for guy or a girl.

Koala Birthday

I'm an Australian living in the US so when I saw this stamp I just had to have it! It's just too cute and very Aussie! You all know I love pink and it was just the perfect colour to go with the grey Koala.

Thanks So Much

I'm not sure who started the quilted card using the Top Note Die....it's not my original idea but I must admit it's a pretty cool one. When I received my Top Note Die last month I couldn't wait to make a quilted card as I love to quilt with fabric. I punched out tons of little 1 1/4" squares, neatly lined them up against each other to make three rows of four and made a nice little stack ready for my Top Note Die to arrive.....I got a little carried away and made over 60 of them thinking they would make great Mother's Day cards to send to the troops via Operation Write Home. Just to let you know....running 60 of these through the Big Shot makes for a great upper body workout! I haven't made the Mother's Day Cards yet as I have until April 1st so I made this little Thank You card instead. Oh....and this is a great way to use up left over scraps!

Hi!

Hi....today's card features an old stamp of mine called Kayla Angel....I'm not even sure if this stamp is still available for sale but I love the country charm of it. I thought it would be great to use frayed calico as a backing to match the frayed bows on her shoes. I used Color Box Fluid Chalks to stain the edges of the calico to match my colouring. I used embroidery floss to tie the buttons and cut it off to match the frayed edges. I couldn't find a sentiment that I liked to go with this card so I used my Copic Multiliner to write "Hi!" on the star.

Bind-it-All Class Homework

As I mentioned a few days ago I've been taking a Bind-it-All class online at My Creative Classroom and thought I'd shave a few of the projects I've made. The first project for lessons one, two and three was to make this Punching and Binding guide which is a great resource to refer to when using the Bind-it-All. I've used it alot over the last few weeks. I'm not going to bore you with photos of every page of every project but just a few of some to give you an idea.

This next item is a mini scrapbook 6" x 6" which was not part of the class but I just wanted to punch something! :) I used a Simply Scrappin' kit from Stampin' Up which made the album quick and easy to put together. I left a place for the photographs or to journal so I can finish it at a later time or give it as a gift.

This next mini album which is 4" x 4" was lesson four in the class. The front is an acrylic cover and the back is wooden. It was fun making all the little different pockets and tags.

This 6" x 6" scrapbook was also part of lesson four. It uses a canvas cover which would be great to paint but I chose to ink around the edges and put a frame on the front which has an opening at the top to slip in a photograph. I used another Simply Scrappin kit from SU for this project. I won't bore you with lots of photos from the inside but we learnt some interesting ways to make pages for this project including a gate fold and a split page.

Lesson five showed us how to use the Zutter covers for our projects. The inside of this album is an organizer for twelve months with handmade envelopes in matching papers. I've kept the front and inside fairly plain until I decide what I want to do with this project. I inked around the edges of the chipboard cover before attaching the paper.

And lastly, we got a bonus project for lesson five and we made these cute 4" x 4" post-it note holders with acrylic covers. I think these will make great end-of-year teacher gifts!

This week is lesson six and is the last in this class. I'll post what we make when I'm finished and it's photographed. I've really enjoyed this class and may even sign up for the Bind-it-All Masterz class that starts soon.

Home is Where the Heart Is

These stamps are part of Unity's May 2009 Kit of the Month club. I'm trying to go back and use the stamps instead of just letting them collect dust! The KOTM club offer a great variety of images to stamp that I sometimes just forget to go back and use. The great thing about these kits is that if I'm at a loss for finding the right sentiment or stamp....without fail I can always find one in my KOTM sets! Anyway, I thought these stamps would make a great house warming card. I'm not sure if you'll be able to see the glitter I used on the hearts but it's pink to match the rest of the card.

A Friend Loves at all Times

Today's card was a bit of a challenge for me. I've often seen colour challenges for card making online but never participated so for this card I sort of set one for myself. I received this gorgeous bouquet of Peruvian Lilies for Valentine's Day from my husband and as they have bloomed all week they displayed an amazing colour palette that intrigued me.

Firstly, I matched my Stampin' Up cardstock to the flowers and came up with Garden Green, Rose Red, Pixie Pink, Summer Sun, Ruby Red and Tangerine Tango. I don't usually make cards with so many colours so I knew this was going to be a challenge right from the start!

Next, I went on the search for a flower stamp.....now I own alot of stamps from having stamped for so many years but not so many with flowers but I did find one in Unity's KOTM club June 2009 and thought it went nicely with the sentiment from Unity's Something Within Set which is the bible verse from Proverbs 17:17.

I coloured the stamps directly with matching SU markers and stamped the images. I then dug out the matching cardstock and tried every combination under the sun to get them to work together! Some people have a real knack for using many different colours together....me not so much....I like to make things with perhaps two or three colours and actually prefer a monochromatic colour scheme but NOT six! It was fun trying something new and in the end I was fairly happy with the result.

Snail Journal

For the last few weeks I've been taking an online class at My Creative Classroom to learn how to better use my Bind-it-All....a neat little binding tool to make scrapbooks, notebooks, journals etc. I took a class last year at a local stamp store (which unfortunately has now gone out of business) that used the Bind-it-All to make a journal and have been wanting to make some more ever since. Next week I'll show you some of the things I've been making for homework but today's journal was the first 'real' thing I made after finally learning how to use the Bind-it-All. It's only 4" square with sketchbook quality blank pages on the inside. I couldn't resist this cute stamp and sentiment for the front of the journal.

Bloomin Birthday!

Here's another card from the retired set "Blooming with Happiness" from Stampin' Up that I used a few days ago. I used my rotary cutter to cut the Designer Series Paper (DSP) to give a nice curve which is a nice departure from the straight lines I typically use.....and look....no bow! :)

Thinking of You

I made this card a couple of days ago when it was snowing beautifully outside. There's something special about the lovely, quiet snow that makes me want to stay inside and make things in my craft room.

I do have a lovely view from my craft room window and I must admit that I sometimes sit and stare at the view....especially when it's snowing....and don't get very much accomplished.

Today's card, "Thinking of You" features Stampscape stamps and is airbrushed with Copic markers....oh, and of course a satin bow!

Blooming with Happiness

Blooming with Happiness is a retired Stampin' Up set that I bought at the end of last year while my Mum was visiting so we could play with it and so thought I would dig it out this week and ink it up! The first card I made uses the lovely dress stamp, silk ribbon and some glitter! I used Dazzling Diamonds which is a very fine glitter on the flowers which unfortunately doesn't show up in the photo very well...but trust me it's very sparkly!


The second card uses the same set of stamps and the same colours but a different layout. I also coloured the white paper flowers to match the cardstock with Copics and chalks. The flowers on the umbrella are also covered with Dazzling Diamonds. Both these cards are 5 1/4" x 5 1/4"....I've only recently started making cards in this square size and I really like it.

Now that Valentine's Day is over and Easter is right around the corner I can dig out all my Easter and Spring stamps to play with....yay! Today's card could be a birthday card or a note card or a happy anything card! The stamps come from Unity's kit of the month February 2009 and I coloured the actual stamp with Copic markers and then sprayed the stamp with rubbing alcohol before stamping the image. It sort of gives a watercolour effect which is great for flower stamps.

The background paper I pieced together using scraps of paper and different border punches and the sewing machine. Instead of tying a bow...which I always seem to do...I do like a nice bow...I pleated the ribbon and secured it by sewing on a little black button. Have a happy day!

Nature is the Art of God

Over the weekend I listed a few cards on Ebay. It's been a few years since I've sold anything on Ebay and since then the economy has changed but I thought I would give it a try. I have cards on Etsy at the moment too where you can list cards for up to four months for one listing fee whereas on Ebay you pay the listing fee and only get 7 days!

Anyway, here are four of the cards I listed using Stampscapes stamps and airbrushed with Copic markers. I really enjoy making these cards....enjoy!

Last Valentine's Day card....I promise!

Ok, I just had to share one last card I made for my husband and kids. I found these red heart shaped Lindt truffles the other day and thought they would make a perfect card. I traced around them onto red cardstock and cut them out. The little hearts were stamped with the SU Love you Much set and punched out with the SU heart punch. I then inked around the edges with red ink before adhering them to the card with little foam dots. The sentiment comes from a Unity kit of the month set and I inked around it too. I kept it fairly plain and simple as I'm sure the truffles will get eaten faster than I could make the card!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you are all having a lovely Valentine's Day. The last Valentine's card I'm going to share with you this year features a stamp designed by me...a Lone Pine Designs original! Last year I sent a few of my designs to a company who made clear unmounted stamps out of them. I was impressed by the idea but not impressed with the outcome. I really like the traditional red rubber stamp as they stamp much clearer and are easier to keep clean. Anyway, this stamp is perfect for Valentine's Day so I thought I would make a card with it.

I stamped the design on white cardstock and then again on the patterned paper. I cut out the heart from the patterned paper and glued it to the image on the white cardstock. I then coloured around the border with a matching Copic marker, mounted it on co-ordinating patterned paper and tied with a lovely, white silk bow.

Mouse Love

That's the name of this cute stamp by Penny Black. I love all the little mice stamps from Penny Black and my favourite way to colour them is with watercolour paints. I like the classic Valentine's Day colour combination here of red and white.

Valentine's Patchwork

Another Valentine's Day card! This was my very first attempt at sewing on a card....something I've been wanting to do for ages but had never got around to trying. I love to quilt and so I quite like the idea of combining my sewing with my card making. I started this card by punching out 1 1/4" squares from different patterned papers and then adhered them to a white background. I then had fun zig-zagging over the edges with the sewing machine. The stamp is from Stampin' Ups 'Love You Much' set and I coloured it with copics to match the rose red paper and cardstock.

Stampin' Up Card Club

Once a month I attend a Stampin' Up card club. I meet with 10 other ladies to make cards and swap cards based on a different theme each month. Last night was our meeting and the theme for this month was Sympathy/Get Well so I thought I would show you the card I made for the swap. We make 10 of the card and then swap with the other ladies and come home with 10 different cards.

Here is last months card...the theme was Winter Thank You. I embossed the trees in white on black cardstock and tied the SU organza ribbon in a knot instead of the usual bow.

They need them early in January to get them sent off in time and I missed this years deadline so I thought I would get some made for next year. Plus, they are really fun to make....I get to use lots of pinks and hearts...my favourites! So, as we wind down to Valentine's Day I thought I would show you some of my cards.

I actually chose the Stampin' Up designer paper first which features the colours, So Saffron and Old Olive and then matched the colours to colour the stamp. I usually colour first and then spend ages trying to find paper to match but this method was a huge time saver and resulted in a perfect match.

Today, I thought I would share another card made from the set Lily Enchanted. Isn't she cute? This set is from Pink Cat Studios in Canada and it includes four different enchanted Lily's. I love to colour these stamps and over the next few weeks I'll make cards using the other enchanted Lily's and post them on my blog for you to see. I love pine trees and am fortunate enough at the moment to be surrounded by them. I love the way they smell, especially after it rains and I love the way they look covered in snow. Yes, they make a mess dropping pine needles, pinecones and branches but cleaning up after them is a small price to pay for their presence.

The following cards have been made using a single pine tree stamp from Stampscapes. I love the versatility of this stamp as it can be used with so many other stamps from the Stampscape line. I'm sure you'll see me use it often in my Stampscape cards as it makes a great filler. For these cards I decided to use it all by itself and make it the feature. I then airbrushed them with Copics in a single colour before making them into cards.

Hoppy Birthday!

As I was going through my cupboards yesterday I came across this item I made towards the end of last year and just had to share it. I made over twelve of these for a card swap and kept one for myself as it was toooo cute. I had been making explosion boxes for Christmas when I needed to make a birthday card for my Stampin Up card club. As I was going through my SU stamps the only birthday set I had was Unfrogettable with a cute little jumping frog in it. I thought it would be cute to have him jumping out of the explosion box and so my Hoppy Birthday Box was created. The little frog jumps out at you when you open the box. I hope he brings a smile to your face as he does mine!
