I love this little stamp and sentiment from Unity's KOTM May 2010...great for a birthday card or just to cheer someone up! I drew and paper pieced the clouds on top of the background to match the clouds in the background paper.

OWH's Midweek Throwdown Challenge this week is...Christmas in July. I decided to use one of my favourite Christmas Stamps that I've owned for many years by Penny Black called Christmas Hug.

Inside reads...May the joy and love you feel this holiday season extend to every day throughout the year. The colours I've used are SU's new Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Rose Red.

The Ippity challenge this week is a 1 - 2 - 3 challenge...that means you create a card using for example: 1 ribbon, 2 buttons, and 3 Designer papers...but you pick you own combination of things to add to your creation.

I chose...1 Ribbon, 2 Colours, and 3 Snowflakes. I made the background paper by lightly stamping the snowflakes from the set Season of Joy and then I lightly "sponged" the background with SU ink but instead of using a sponge I used a scrunched baby wipe.

Wonderful Friend

I think the Kimono Kids in the new Stampin' Up catalogue are just adorable and I couldn't resist using one on this week's OWH Stars and Stamps sketch challenge card. Here's the sketch...

...and here's my card...I usually try and stay pretty true to the sketches but for this one I rotated it and added another layer as my card needed a little more colour.

I made this card for today's blog hop using the cow from the Ippity set Simply Home and the sentiment from Sweet Thoughts of Spring because I really like how they go together! I coloured the background paper with my Copics to look like cow hide to stay with a black and white theme.

After making the card I was putting away my stamps when I realised that I have never inked up the house from the set Simply Home so I HAD to make a card so it wouldn't feel left out! :) I paper pieced the house and coloured the windows and doors with Copics.

Tuesday Trigger: Dancing Lanterns

Here is the trigger photo for this week's Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World.

On Tuesday, I received my Stampin' Up order and in it was the stamp set Kimono Kids which I thought was perfect for this trigger! I paper pieced the lanterns and kimono's to match the colours in the photo and left the layout very plain as I want the lanterns and the kimono kids to be the main feature.

Turquoise, Yellow and ???

...that's what this week's Ippity challenge is! Make a card with turquoise, yellow and one other colour. After grabbing my usual suspects...pink and purple, I decided to try something a little different for me and chose green.

I punched out several hearts and glued them together and then applied Crystal Effects to them to make them shiny. I also applied Crystal Effects to the house...so both the hearts and the house match the shiny brads.

Snowbody Like You

Monica, over at Gardner's Basket, is hosting this week's challenge for the blog group Tangled Up in Creativity. She has challenged us to make a Christmas Card without using the traditional reds and greens.

I used the SU colour Baja Breeze with white for this cool snowman card. The stamps are all from the Ippity set Kissmas & Mistletoe and I punched the snowflake stamp out with a Martha Stewart snowflake punch which was almost a perfect match! So much easier than cutting all those snowflakes out by hand!

Ps. I'm loving the new Stampin' Up rhinestones...I think they are my favourite item in the new catalogue!

Something that is built...

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week is to use an image in your card/project of something that is "built" using a set of plans ... a house, church, school, automobiles, even a bird house...anything that would be built according to a set of plans.

I used the house and sentiment from the Ippity set Devoted and the scallop borders from the set Sweet Thoughts of Spring. I paper pieced the house and then the scalloped borders to match. Have a great day!

I made this for a friend who had been feeling very unwell lately. The butterfly and sentiment are both Ippity stamps and I stamped the butterfly in versamark ink before embossing with white embossing powder. I do hope and pray she feels better real soon.

Ippity Challenge Card

This week's Ippity challenge was to find a card that inspires you on the SCS Gallery and remake it.....make it your own but let the card inspire your design. There are so many wonderful cards in the SCS gallery it was hard to choose one but I've always wanted to try making a round card so I chose this card by Michelle...you can see more at her blog Stop and Stamp the Roses.

As you can see I've made another Thank You card! I used designer papers from the Ippity Spring Paper Pack and stamps from the Ippity set Just Wanted To Say. I cut the little flowers out of one of the designer papers and adhered them with foam dots....I love how their little scalloped edges match the outside of the card. I must say I really like round cards...you might see a few more of these from me in the future!

Sorry, no card today...

I thought I would take a break today from showing my cards and show you a bag I made recently with a dear friend. When I lived in Australia I would meet every Wednesday with this friend and we would make things...mainly quilts but we also made jewellery and bags and lots of other things.

When I moved five years ago I really missed those Wednesdays, not just for all the great things we created but for the lovely friendship that we made. Since then, my friend has moved to America too and although we do not live close enough to get together every Wednesday we do keep in touch and a few weeks ago she came for a short stay so I dusted off my sewing machines which haven't seen fabric in a while...only cards...and we each made a bag.

You may not be able to see it in the photo but hanging off the button on the right is a little cluster of wooden beads on a leather cord...all made out of Australian timbers as a lovely reminder of our time together.

What brings you peace?

That is this week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge...make a card that symbolizes what brings you rest or peace. For example, it could be flowers, an ocean, music, mountains, sitting with a friend, or just reading a book. As I sat gazing out my craft room window...which gives me lots of peace...I thought of trees and the colour blue and created this card.

Beary Cute!

Isn't this bear cute...I love the expression on her face! I think it's one of the biggest stamps I own (the card measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4") and I'm not a huge fan of really big stamps so it really hasn't been used very much, if ever, over the years! As I was tidying up my stamps the other day I dug out a few really old ones that I wanted to ink up and this cute bear was one of them! She's a little too large to colour with my Copics so I chose to paint her with watercolours on watercolour paper. I left it blank on the inside so I can add a sentiment later depending on who I give it to. I added little pink rhinestones to her heart and of course she needed a bow!

Ippity's challenge this week was to make a card/project with four of something on it! My card has a four layered flower, four lines of stitching and four colours...Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red and Apricot Appeal. It's a thank you card because I need them so you will probably see a few thank you's over the next few weeks!

Tuesday Trigger: Poppin' Off The Page!

Here is this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger photo...

...I must admit that when I first saw this photo I thought I might actually give this week a miss! But I must say it's good to step out of the box creatively every once in a while and play with colours and styles you wouldn't normally work with. I think that is what I enjoy most about the Tuesday Triggers. The flowers in the photo reminded me of a flower in the Ippity set Faith Blooms...

...so I used it as the centres of all my flowers and I had fun doodling around them in the same style as the photo. Surprisingly I don't own any black and white designer paper so I paper pieced the background with black and white stripes and little punched out black circles. I couldn't find a sentiment that I liked and I really need some thank you cards so I drew the "Thanks" to fit the style of the flowers...and lastly I used foam dots to have the flowers poppin' off the page!

You're My Cup Of Tea

I made today's card for this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger. Here is this week's trigger photo...

...and here is my card...I really wanted the little mouse to be sitting in a tea cup but I don't own a tea cup stamp so I drew the tea cup onto designer paper, cut it out and used a craft knife to cut a slit for the mouse to slip in. Have a great day everyone!
