Challenge #3 for Eyelets, Ribbon, Paper-Oh My!!

Mary-Kate over at Emkay Designs is the host for our blog group's challenge this week and she has challenged us to make not one but TWO different cards using this sketch she created. Thanks Mary-Kate for this fun challenge!

My first card is a tri-fold card....might be a little hard to see in the photograph because the base of the card is black. I decided to make a porthole card...the cardstock around the fishy scene is a shiny silver...also doesn't show up very well in the photograph!

For my second card I decided to make a more feminine card and dug out my silk ribbon to put down the middle with a nice bow! I needed a Get Well card so this was the perfect opportunity to make one.

3-D Flower Challenge

This week's {Ippity} challenge is to make a card/project with a 3-D flower...preferably handmade and not store bought. I have been wanting to make flowers with my silk ribbon for ages so this was the perfect opportunity to give them a go! I have also been wanting to make some baby cards with the {Ippity} set Moon Beam & Heart Strings so I chose a pastel pink silk ribbon and decided to make a baby girl card. I use 12" of 1 1/4" ribbon for these ribbon flowers. I stitch a running stitch all the way along the long edge of the ribbon and gather the ribbon tightly and stitch the two ends together. I used a brad here for the centre but you could also use a button, a bead or a pearl.

No sooner had I finished the card above when my phone rang and it was my husband at work asking me to make a card for his co-worker who had just had a baby. I replied "sure I just made a baby card this morning...did they have a boy or a girl?" They had a lovely baby boy so it was back to the craft room for me to make another card...and here it is!

I decided to participate in this week's challenge over at Moxie Fab World. Every Tuesday they post a Tuesday Trigger Challenge which is a photo of something to inspire you to make a card. This week's trigger photo is called Poolside Inspiration...

I think this has been my favourite type of challenge so far. I loved the fact that is wasn't so specific and that the photo would inspire everyone differently. I was immediately drawn to the clean, crisp white outdoor setting, the graphic shapes and designs of the cream and green cushions and the natural coloured outdoor rug and this is what I came up with...

I made today's card for this week's Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge. I was colouring this cute fairy from Pink Cat Studio and thought she'd be perfect for this layout. Her wings are sparkly to match the sparkle in the red designer paper. I don't normally work in these colours but I was using the ladybug as my inspiration!

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week is to make a Mother's Day card/project. I've already made my Mum a Mother's Day card this year and it's in the mail on it's way to Australia so it will arrive in time for Mother's Day. I might show it on my blog after it arrives as I don't want to spoil the surprise. So, for this challenge I made another Mother's Day card using this very cute stamp by Azadi Earles.

Today, I thought I would share a simple set of cards I made using the colours navy and pink and the {Ippity} set Regal Greetings. I love the versatility of this set and have used many of the stamps on different cards with other stamps but I think this is the first time I've made a card using just this great set of stamps!

I couldn't decide which stamps to use on a card...so I made a set of four cards.

Lest We Forget...

On the 25th of April in Australia we celebrate Anzac Day. Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, and is commemorated by both countries to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I.

The Ode of Remembrance, recited at ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services throughout the British Commonwealth, contains "Lest we forget" as its final line...as we think about those that have sacrificed so much for us let us also remember those that are working so hard for peace and keep them and their families in our prayers.

Owl Journal and Card

I have a couple of 'Owl' projects to share with you today...first is a journal I made with my Bind-it-all and this cute owl stamp from Unity.

Next is a card made with paper from the {Ippity} Winter 2010 Collection and the sentiment is from {Ippity}'s set Where You Should Be. I think this owl paper is very cute and so I wanted it to be the main feature of this card. You can't see it in the photo but the owl that I punched out from the front of the card is now on the inside of the card.

Remember the Moments

Another challenge card today for Operation Write Home! This week's mid week challenge is to create any card using hardware. You may use as much or as little hardware as you'd like. Hardware is any metal embellishment including brads, eyelets, hinges, photo corners, paper clips, ribbon slides, bookplates, photo hangers, edge anchors or other metal charms.

I'm really not a 'hardware' user....I use the occasional brad or eyelet but that's about it! But in the spirit of the challenge I dug out some paper clips and shiny silver brads and this is what I came up with....

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge

I made today's first card for this week's Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge. A copy of the sketch is below my card. The "Be Happy" was stamped and embossed on blue cardstock, cut out and then adhered using foam dots...it's a little hard to see in the photo.

I also made this next card using the sketch but without the sentiment going across the middle.

Hello...I have two challenge cards to share with you today. The first card was made for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week. The challenge was to make a card/project with flowers on it. I love putting flowers on my cards so this was a fun challenge. The sentiment reads "May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day".

I was also honoured yesterday with a Stampin' Sisters in Christ Shining Star award for my Peace card last week...what a lovely surprise!
The second card was made for this week's {Ippity} challenge which was to use scallops on your card/project. I used a scallop punch at the bottom of my card and used a scallop square nestabilities die to frame the {Ippity} stamp from the set What Matters Most.

When I heard Stampin' Up was retiring some colours in July and that Lavender Lace was one of them I was a little sad as it is one of my favourite SU colours. So I made today's cards using Lavender Lace. The flowers were bought at Walmart a while ago and have yellow centres...I don't use a lot of yellow but I like these flowers as they are a little sparkly...when I use them I either punch out little circles in co-ordinating paper or use a button to cover the yellow and then they go with everything! Christmas in April?

Coffee and Friends

I like the idea of coffee...it smells wonderful, it's supposed to give you a boost of energy and it's something nice enjoyed with friends...I just don't like the taste! I like coffee ice-cream and cookies etc but I've never enjoyed a cup of coffee! I don't drink tea or coffee and will only have a hot chocolate if I'm really cold...which happens quite often here in New Hampshire during the winter months. This past winter my Mum was visiting from Australia and introduced me to putting coffee in my hot chocolate...I loved it and every once in a while I will treat myself to a cup...I guess chocolate does make everything better :) I need this stamp to read "Mocha & friends are the perfect blend"!

Speaking of friends...one of my blogging friends, Mary Kate over at Emkay Designs gave me this lovely award...thank you so much!

So now I have to tell you ten things about myself and select ten other bloggers to pass the award onto...I don't think I know ten other bloggers who haven't already received this award...but here a few little things about me....

Eyelets, Ribbon, Paper...Oh, My! Challenge #2

Time flies and Lynn over at Confessions of a Left-Brained Stamper has issued Challenge #2 for members of Eyelets, Ribbon, Paper...Oh, My! Our challenge this week is to look through our patterned ribbons and select one to use as the inspiration for the design of our card. For those of you who know me, you know I love ribbon...it's my favourite thing to use on my cards and I have a nice stash of ribbons. I do, however, buy mostly plain ribbon and not so much patterned because I use lots of patterned papers and I find the plain ribbon works better. I do own a few patterned ribbons...I just haven't used them too much so this was a nice challenge to dig them out and use them!

I love the combination of pink and brown and when I came across these ribbons by American Crafts I couldn't choose just one so I made the background with all of them....I hope that doesn't mean I fail the challenge!

Last night, I attended a monthly Stampin' Up Card Club meeting. Each month we choose a theme and make enough cards to swap with the ten other ladies. This month's theme was anything feminine....could be Mother's Day or Birthday etc....so when I made this card I decided to leave it blank so that it could be used for any occasion or a sentiment could be stamped on it when needed. We are supposed to use all Stampin' Up supplies which I mostly try to do but every now and then I can't help myself and there are a few non Stampin' Up things on this card!

I stamped the background with the flower stamp from the set Delight in Life in Versamark watermark ink and you may not be able to see it in the photograph but I used Stickles on the skirt so that all the flowers are sparkly and added the pink rhinestone....a girl can never have too many sparkles!

Hi...I made today's card for this week's Sister in Christ Challenge. The challenge was to make a card about prayer and/or peace. The stamp I used is one of my own designs that I had made into an acrylic stamp last year. If you would like to see a few more of my designs click HERE. I chose the designer paper first and then coloured the stamp to match. I printed the verse from Romans 15:13 on my printer to finish the card.
