Lone Pine Designs

"Lone Pine Designs" originated when I first moved to America in 2005 from Australia. My mother in Australia called our new home in NH "Lone Pine" as she wanted my new home, which is surrounded by pine trees, to have an Australian name. The Battle of Lone Pine is a very famous successful Australian battle which took place during the Gallipoli war in Turkey in 1915. It was called The Battle of Lone Pine for the solitary pine tree standing in the middle of the battlefield which surprisingly remained standing at the end of the battle. After the tough few months leading up to our arrival here in America and surviving the first year in a new country I felt like that pine tree still standing in the battlefield. It was in 2006 when I started to sell my work on Ebay that I decided that Lone Pine Designs would be the perfect name for this new endeavour in my life.

Wild Thing Challenge!

Operation Write Home's mid week challenge this week was "Wild Thing"...we had to think of animals we might see at the zoo, in the jungle or on a safari! That was the easy part! I don't own any 'wild' animal stamps....I have lots of cute mice, hedgehogs, bunnies etc but they don't exactly fit the "Wild Thing" theme but then I remembered when I had some of my designs made into acrylic stamps last year I had drawn one with a monkey and although it's a cute, smiling monkey I think it still fits the theme!!!
