Happy Australia Day!

Happy Australia Day and Happy Anniversary to me as I launched my blog exactly one year ago today! I remember saying to my husband how great it will be to have a record of my cards and how I'll be able to share what I'm making with my Mum in Australia. I set myself the goal of posting every day for a year (I missed a couple)...hoping that maybe a few people might stop by and say "G'day"! Never in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined how my first year of blogging would actually turn out. In the past year I've had over 32,000 blog hits, 79 followers, 1000's of wonderful comments and have developed friendships with people all over the world. I have learnt lots of new words like Blog Candy, Blog Hop, Blogoversary and I've discovered lots of fun challenges that have stretched me creatively. I've enjoyed visiting lots of wonderful blogs and have donated over 500 cards around the world. Who knows what this next year will bring?

Today, I have two cards to share...the first is for a "Tangled Up in Creativity" challenge hosted by Danie over at D-Dazzled Designs. In honour of Australia Day she challenged us to make a card in Aussie colours...green and gold and only use cardstock....no papers, no ribbon, no bling etc....only stamping.

I decided to make a card for Australia Day...I coloured the gumleaf stamp with SU markers before stamping the image and I stamped the gum blossoms in the background with versamark ink. I used my Justright stamps to make the Happy Australia Day stamp.

My next card is for this week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge...to make a vintage style card. This was a challenge for me as I don't really make vintage style cards and I'm not sure if this one is vintage enough but I like how it turned out!

i love you...

I am part of a wonderful Blog Group called Tangled Up in Creativity and now that the new year is underway it's time to get our blog groups challenges underway and we have two this month. Today's card is for Molly's challenge over at Miss Molly's Creations and it's open for everyone! She has challenged us to find something we were given for Christmas that inspires our creativity - take a picture and make a card with that inspiration.

Here is the photo of the gift I was given by my husband. It's a little Swarovski crystal brooch. Something you probably didn't know about me was that I love archery and shoot every week with my family and compete once a month. I've placed the pin on my black quiver (which holds my arrows).

Here is my card...inspired by my black quiver and of course the gold and crystals! It didn't photograph very well but the coloured crystals are red, green and blue. I did discover that if you colour your rhinestones with Copics they still sparkle! Another reason to love my Copics!

Today's card is for three challenges...I think that is a record for me! I usually like to make a different card for each challenge I participate in but this one just seemed to come together for all three. I made it for Our Daily Bread Designs Wing It challenge, Stampin' Sisters in Christ "New" challenge and Moxie Fab World's Neutral Colour Challenge...French Vanilla, Twig and Smokey.

I love this stamp set (On Eagle's Wings) by ODBD because it has one of my all time favourite verses in it, Isaiah 40:31. The eagle is great for the wings challenge and I thought the verse was perfect for the "New" theme. What a wonderful comfort to know that when our strength is depleted if we just wait upon our Lord he will renew us with such strength that we will be able to soar like an eagle...wow!

I have a couple of cards to share today. The first is for this week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge which is a Card Buffet!

These are the items on the buffet table and you have to select 4 to use on this week's card or creation and remember the all important RULE....that you use at least ONE PENNY BLACK IMAGE!

This was a fun challenge...and absolutely no calories were consumed! I chose to use patterned paper, ribbon, 3 flowers (I didn't count all the flowers in the background paper) and 3 gems. I coloured the white paper flowers with my copics which seems much brighter in the photo than it does in person!

My second card is a very simple monochromatic card...I made this for a Stampin' Up card swap so it uses SU paper, ribbon and stamps! I paper pieced the heart and bird.

I have loved Penny Black stamps for nearly twenty years and at one stage I was selling them for a stamp distributor for a while when I lived in Australia. One of the benefits of selling them was the discount I received and I have a large selection of Penny Black stamps that I purchased during that time. When I came across the Penny Black Saturday Challenge Blog I thought it would be a great opportunity to re-visit some old favourites!

It seems like I've been doing mostly challenge cards non-stop for the last couple of weeks...having made the decision to try some new challenges this year the challenges seem to be piling up on my table. I do enjoy doing them and there are so many out there to try! I've had a little extra time during the last couple of weeks to play but I know that won't last forever! I'm really not complaining...I just hope you're not sick of seeing them!

Today's card is for The Play Date Cafe Challenge #63.

The day this challenge was posted I received my very first order from Our Daily Bread Designs. I've been wanting to place an order for nearly a year now so I was very excited when it arrived. The stamps I used on this card are from the set Quiet Waters and I knew it would be perfect for this challenge. The stream is sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds and I coloured the image with a combination of airbrushed Copics and SU markers.
