Last Tuesday's Trigger over at Moxie Fab World was to use Betsy Veldman's card below as inspiration for our own card.


Here's what her card inspired me to make...I love buttons and thought this was a perfect design to show them off! It was about 10 years ago when I was busy quilting that I discovered how much I liked buttons...not just using them but collecting them! Who knew my collection would come in so handy years later? I love using buttons on my cards...they are great by themselves, threaded with cotton or even tied with a ribbon! They go perfectly with ribbons, fabric or lace and can easily be matched to different papers. I love adding texture to my cards and buttons are a great way to do it! I store my buttons mostly according to colour so it was easy to find lots of different purple buttons for this monochromatic card.

A Pocket Full Of Love

I have been living in the US for five years but am originally from Australia. I have friends and family scattered all over the world and I love sending them my handmade cards.....it’s like sending them a little piece of me. Faux Challenge

This week's {Ippity} challenge was to create a project using your {ippity} stamps and incorporate something FAUX. It can be anything faux...such as faux stitching, faux buttons, faux tearing...the options are endless!

I couldn't decide what faux thing to incorporate so I chose a few. There is faux stitching around the centre circle to match the stitching on the background paper, I used a thin strip of patterned paper under the embroidery cotton to replace ribbon and I made a faux button to match!

Today's card was made for a couple of reasons. I needed some thank you cards for people at my husbands work and so I used the Operation Write Home sketch challenge this week to give me inspiration!

I needed a couple of feminine cards and five masculine cards and here's what I created...I used the stripey paper as my inspiration for the masculine card on a navy coloured base.
I decided to go with a classic black and white colour combination for the women...

Anything Is Possible!

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week was inspired by the bible verse from Isaiah 64:6..."But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." The challenge is to use distressing or sponge the edges of your card/project to give it a vintage or distressed look.

I must admit that this is a technique I don't use very often but that's the great thing about a challenge...it makes us step outside our comfort zone and try something new. I sponged Tim Holtz Distress Inks on the edges of all my paper in my card to give it a vintage feel. What do you think?

Today is a very special day....it's my Mum's birthday. Happy Birthday Mum! This is the card I sent to her in Australia and thankfully it arrived just in time for her birthday. I have three cards to share with you today...all use stamps from the new release and all have been air brushed with Copic markers. The first card uses one of my favourite sentiments from this new collection....While I breathe, I hope. I can see myself using this stamp a lot on cards for encouragement and support. The patterned paper in the background was not quite the right colour so I lightly air brushed it in the shade I wanted so it would match the rest of the card but so you could still see the pattern.

After air brushing this next card I cut out the centre piece, framed it in black and attached it to the card right where I had cut it out with foam dots...I wanted the background to match the centre image.

For this last today I punched out the flowers from my air brushing over spray which is a great way to use up all the scraps and have them match!

Sending You Birthday Wishes

Last night was my monthly stamp club meeting that I attend and the theme for our card swap this month was anything masculine. This is a Stampin' Up club so the card needs to be made from SU materials so everything on this card except for the eyelets is from Stampin' Up. I took the Happy Birthday stamp from the set Four Square and stamped it several times in different colours to make the background. I only own Stampin' Up's ink spots and I had to make 12 cards so this ended up being a lot of stamping!

You're A Friend Of Mine

The Midweek Throwdown this week over on Operation Write Home's Stars and Stamps blog was to create a card using the free Rainy Day digital image provided by *Wink*Wink Ink. I have never used a digital image on my cards before...I love a stamp and some ink! I loved this cute image so I couldn't resist joining the challenge. I printed out the image on my laser printer and then coloured it with Copics. I then air brushed the sunshine to go with the sentiment...which I also printed from my computer. Have a great day!

Coral and Blue Delight

Every Tuesday over at Moxie Fab World there is a new Trigger Challenge which I have really enjoyed participating in the last few weeks. You never know what might inspire you from the trigger photo. Here is this week's trigger photo....I love this coral colour and the two toned daisies!

Here is my card...I apologise for the poor lighting...I think it is much nicer in person! The two layered daisies from K&C are white so I pulled them apart and airbrushed the back layer with my copics in blue. I also airbrushed the four layers of waves at the bottom to represent the lovely frilly edges of the plates.

Happy Mother's Day

First Holy Communion

My neighbour's daughter is having her first Holy Communion in a couple of weeks and so I made this card for her...the inside of the card reads "May God bless you on your first Holy Communion". The Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps blog issued a colour challenge on Wednesday to make a card using your favourite colour. I love most colours but I think my most favourite is pink and I reach for it way too often! I actually have to make myself work with other colours sometimes or I think nearly every card I make would have pink on it! I know my neighbour's 8 year old daughter loves pink so this card was perfect for the challenge...any excuse to play with pink!

You're Simply The Best!

I made today's card for this week's Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World. The flower stamp was stamped twice to get the two different shades of pink. Whenever cutting out my small stamped images I always use my 3 1/2" decoupage scissors with a curved tip...they make cutting into small, tight areas a breeze!

Below is the trigger photo for this week's challenge. I think you can see I was inspired by the colours, flowers and spotty fabric.

My first card today was made for this week's Operation Write Home sketch challenge over on the Stars and Stamps blog. I stayed true to the sketch and kept in clean and simple (CAS) using {Ippity} stamps and paper.
